OPTET

In the past trust was one of the drivers that lead to a self-reinforcing cycle of (largely beneficial) socio-economic activity facilitating distribution, sharing and collaboration.  However, trust in the Internet and in Internet-based applications is eroding.

ARTIST

Most legacy applications are unsuitable for running on the cloud due to a lack of scalability, security and compliance features. However, companies often cannot easily replace them as they are crucial to their performance, continuity and offering. Migrating to a cloud infrastructure can bring cost, performance and strategic advantages.

NOMAD

The NOMAD projects aims to introduce into the policy-making process an array of new techniques and opportunities emerging through the massive use of the social web. Nowadays, the citizens are directly and heavily involved in the policy making process, through the tools and capabilities offered by the Web 2.0 tools and channels.

A4Cloud

A4Cloud focused on the Accountability For Cloud and Other Future Internet Services as the most critical prerequisite for effective governance and control of corporate and private data processed by cloud-based IT services.

SocialSensor

SocialSensor will develop a new framework for enabling real-time multimedia indexing and search in the Social Web. The project will move beyond conventional text-based indexing and retrieval models by mining and aggregating user inputs and content over multiple social networking sites.

SUMAT

SUMAT developed an online subtitle translation service addressing 9 different European languages combined into 14 different language pairs, with the aim to semi-automatize at a large scale the subtitle translation processes of both freelance translators and subtitling companies, in order to optimize their efficiency and productivity thereby helping them to meet the market demands.

ARCOMEM

ARCOMEM is a project about memory institutions like archives, museums, and libraries in the age of the Social Web. Memory institutions are more important now than ever: as we face greater economic and environmental challenges we need our understanding of the past to help us navigate to a sustainable future.
